| Apex Automotive Engineering started business in 1995,
mostly out of the need to have better control over the service that
customers require. I worked for a local Volkswagen/Mazda dealer
for 12 years. Prior to that I worked 12 years at a major automotive
chain. As you can see I have had plenty of experience in the
automotive repair field . While working at the dealership, I
went from a Master VW Technician to a Master Mazda Technician (I'm
also an ASE Master Technician). |
| The Miata came out in late 1989 and my wife (Karen) had to have one.
We helped organize the local Miata club (Mass
Miata) in 1990. I was president of the club for a couple
of years. We are still active members today. |

All this time, people were asking me to upgrade their Miatas with all the goodies they
saw in the Miata magazine. I would use the dealership at night to install
aftermarket parts, and during the day, the dealership got all the maintenance and warranty
work. Word got around that this dealer had a service department that took care of them.
Then the dealer changed ownership. It was obvious the new owner was in it for the
short term, and service was suffering. The decision was made to start my own
business. I had quite a following, and the Miata was gaining popularity in numbers. |
|
| We started in a small shop in Marlborough, MA. We specialized
in Mazdas and most foreign cars. Word got around that
we do a lot of aftermarket parts installations such as suspensions,
engine and exhaust modifications on Miata's, BMW's, Honda's etc.
In November of 2002 we moved our business to a brand new, larger location
in Marlborough with 4 bays and 2 lifts. We do all maintenance
items on foreign cars, from timing belts to tires. One of our specialties
is four wheel alignments. |
|
| At night I helped crew on Bob Boig's SCCA EP race car (see Bob's
project page). I'm also a member of the Renegade
Miata autocross club. I try to get on the track 5 or 6 times
a year with local clubs, be it time trials or driving schools.
Karen and I now own 3 Miata's. |

| To finish the bio, we have 1 Border Collie mix, 2 parakeets,
some fish and no kids. Karen is a licensed and ASE certified
auto damage appraiser for a leading insurance company for whom she
has worked for over 30 years. She is working towards her ASE certification
in Collision Repair. |
|
You can see our lives, both professionally and personally,
revolve around automobiles. We understand the need for quality
service.
Quality service is what we provide at Apex Automotive Engineering. |
